The Global Solar Alliance announces the launching of the first Global Solar Summit

Initiative To Bring Leaders from Government, Industry and Science Together to Advance Solar Energy Worldwide

The Global Solar Alliance announces the launch of the Global Solar Summit, an annual international solar conference which brings together leaders from private and public sectors in the worldwide solar industry and markets to discuss pertinent issues facing the solar energy industry, collaborate and exchange information among the professional community, as well as raising consciousness of the benefits of solar to the general public and political decision makers.

The first Global Solar Summit will be held on 8-9 May 2013, in Milan, concurrently with Solarexpo.

“We believe the Summit will be one of the most important happenings for the solar industry in 2013 said Mi Yue, Executive Vice Chairman of Shanghai New Energy Industry Association (SNEIA). “Our mission is to create a high-level networking platform that will represent the place to be for the international solar community”

“The Summit will focus on three important aspects of the solar industry: research, business and policy” added Julia Hamm, President and CEO of Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA). “ This two-day event will be a great opportunity for leaders of these areas to come together to discuss and resolve issues, share information and promote solar energy worldwide”

A second important initiative the Global Solar Alliance has put together is a membership campaign for solar Companies. The membership will be free-of-charge for 2013 and will include many benefits, starting with a discounted rate for the participation in each founding member’s event, a customized area in the Global Solar Alliance’s website and visibility in the widespread advertising campaign.

The impact of the Global Solar Alliance is underscored by the influence of the combined annual shows of the three founding members, Solar Power International, Solarexpo and SNEC:

By combining their resources, the founding members will play a leadership role in generating new ideas and opportunities to support the global solar market, with benefits for solar companies and consumers alike.
